Terminology used to refer to Indonesian Schools

In the ALC Indonesian test, schools are a common topic and are almost invariably referred to in the tests each year.

The following terminology will be used to refer to Indonesian schools:
Primary School = SD (Sekolah Dasar)
Junior High School = SLTP (Sekolah Lanjutan Tingkat Pertama)
Senior High School = SMU (Sekolah Menengah Umum)

Guidelines for the use of kanji and katakana in Japanese Certificate 2 and Certificate 3 tests

Katakana

  • Katakana will be used with furigana/hiragana above for Set B items

Certificate 3

  • Katakana knowledge assumed

The following characters may be used by the writers in the listening and reading tests

  • Numbers 1-10
  • Japan & Japanese - Japan & Japanese
  • Book - book

Certificate 3

The following characters may be used by the writers in the listening and reading tests

Numbers using zero , up to 999

Verbs: go go, see see, eat eat, listen listen

People words: person person, myself myself, mother mother, father father,child child, male male, female female

Days of the week

Months of the year

Time words: now now, minute minute, hour hour, half half, period of time Period of Time

Location words: above above, below below, inside inside, in front in front

School words: school school, student student, teacher teacher

Adjectives: big big, small small

Other: yen yen, like like, mountain mountain, river river
