This site is the home of the Australian Medical Assessment Collaboration (AMAC). The establishment of this collaboration was funded by a grant from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC Project SP10-1869). The initial AMAC project was undertaken collaboratively by The University of Queensland, the Australian Council for Educational Research and Monash University.
With the completion of the original ALTC funded project in mid-2012, AMAC has extended its collaborative partnerships to formally include The University of Queensland, the Australian Council for Educational Research, Monash University, Flinders University, The University of Notre Dame Australia, The University of Wollongong, The University of New England/University of Newcastle (Joint Medical Program), The University of New South Wales, Griffith University and Deakin University. Other medical schools in Australia and New Zealand are also involved in AMAC through participation in forums, workshops and piloting of assessments. From 2013 to early 2014 AMAC is funded by a grant from the Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT Project ID12-2482).
The development of AMAC responds to the growing need for an evidence-base on which to establish graduate capability, measure success and most importantly, facilitate continuous improvement in medical education in Australia.
AMAC aims to build collaboration among medical schools with a focus on assessment of learning outcomes. In the first stage of development, AMAC has developed a network of collaborating institutions, an assessment framework, developed and piloted an assessment, and provided analysis and reporting of outcomes to participating schools and students.
AMAC is currently developing a series of resources detailing approaches and processes for establishing a functioning and productive collaboration in higher education focused on shared assessment for the purpose of comparative evaluation and quality improvement.
