Introduction and uses
a VET Choice is a proven and secure online testing and reporting service, developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research for identifying the English and Maths abilities of apprenticeship and traineeship candidates and vocational education and training students.
This ACER testing service is particularly suitable for identifying apprentices, trainees and students who may require additional monitoring, diagnosis and assistance with literacy and/or numeracy.

To address the Literacy and Numeracy component of the pre-training review required for all apprentices and trainees, Box Hill Institute introduced ACER’s ‘a VET Choice’ online system in 2007 into its teaching centres. We have found the online system to be the best option for our teaching centres, as it is easy, efficient and results are sent to centres for review in a very short timeframe. We have amended the reporting options of the program to identify students who require assistance or who require closer monitoring which in turn enables our teachers to act quickly to address student requirements. It is now part of our culture here at BHI and has become part of our enrolment process for apprentices and trainees. Thank you.
