Brain Research and Learning
Over the last decade, researchers have used brain scanning and imaging technologies to learn more about the capacity of the brain to develop, learn, and change throughout the lifecycle.
Attempts to link the findings of brain research directly to classroom practice should be interpreted with caution. However, an emerging trans-disciplinary approach, involving cognitive neuroscience, psychology, education, and health, has resulted in a "new science of learning" which has much to offer. This approach has the potential to shed light on how the brain produces perception, attention, memory and language, and on the importance of early and late years in successful lifelong learning.
Brain research can provide insights into factors that impact on learning, and highlights the significance of the distinction between nature and nurture in learning and brain development.
