The Single Word Spelling Test (SWST) is a set of 9 standardised spelling tests
that are quick and easy to administer.
Each test takes about 30 minutes to complete and are administered orally to groups of children. For each item, the teacher reads aloud the word to be spelt, a sentence to put the word into context and then the word again. Covering the ages 6 - 14, the tests include high frequency and spelling bank words.
