Customised Assessment and Reporting
The Tests
The range of tests on offer are:
Progressive Achievement Tests in Mathematics Revised (PAT Maths)
The test is designed for use at years 3-8 and takes 45 minutes to administer.
It identifies students' level of achievement in mathematics and assists in informing teachers of the skill development required by each of the students.
Progressive Achievement Tests in Reading:
* Comprehension (PAT- R Comprehension)
* Vocabulary (PAT-R Vocabulary)
Both tests are appropriate for years 3-9, the Comprehension taking approximately 40 minutes to sit and the Vocabulary 25 minutes.
They measure student achievement in reading comprehension and word knowledge and monitor student progress over time.
Writing Task
The writing task can be either argumentative or imaginative. Students are asked to respond to a prompt and produce a piece of writing that is relevant to the task at hand, shows flair and demonstrates a command of the mechanics of written expression.
Students are given 30 minutes to complete their piece of writing.
The writing tasks are hand scored by two markers with third discrepancy marking if there is a difference of more than two grades between the initial markers. Students' results are reported as both raw and standardised scores.
British Spelling Test Series (BSTS)
This is a series of norm referenced spelling tests that identify spelling performance and allow for assessment of spelling skills over time.
It takes 30 minutes to administer and is applicable to students from age 5 to adult.
Single Word Spelling Test (SWST)
A set of 9 standardised spelling tests that identify gaps in spelling skills and allows the teacher to monitor development over time.
The test is designed for students 6-14 years of age and takes approximately 30 minutes to administer. Student performance is reported in terms of raw and standardised scores as well as stanines and percentiles.
