Development and Provision of an ACER Apprenticeship Selection Assessment
To fulfil the apprenticeship selection needs of individual industries ACER follows the procedures listed below. These procedures are indicative only. ACER will work with you to satisfy your individual needs.
- ACER consults with industry members to discuss the content of the desired Apprenticeship Selection Assessment.
- A draft test of trialled test items is then developed, for comment from the industry reference group.
- After incorporating comments from the industry reference group and editing the Apprenticeship Selection Assessment a final assessment is produced.
- ACER then prints the required number of Assessment Books and has them delivered to the assessment supervisor at the nominated industry address.
- ACER designs and has printed Answer Sheets for the recording and subsequent scanning of responses. These are delivered with the Assessment Books.
- If a written task is included in the Apprenticeship Selection Assessment this task is developed and the Writing Task Book and Answer Book are designed, printed and delivered with the other assessment materials to the specified address.
- ACER provides a Manual for the management and supervision of the Apprenticeship Selection Assessment by industry staff.
- If preferred, ACER staff can be contracted to manage and supervise the Apprenticeship Selection Assessment.
- ACER assesses candidates' responses and reports as scaled scores, the assessed skills.
- ACER provides information, including sample questions, about the Apprenticeship Selection Assessment, for inclusion on the industry website.
A new Apprenticeship Selection Assessment can be developed for each test sitting. Scores for each test are standardised to ensure that results from one test sitting have the same value as the results of subsequent and previous sittings.
