EdLiveWire
Welcome to the first edition of EdLiveWire for 2007
At ACER we've been busy publishing books and resources to give you new insights into performance management in schools, the characteristics of Generation Y and positive ways to teach about health, puberty, body image, nutrition, self-esteem and obesity prevention. We've also established a WA presence with the opening of our Perth office, giving our Western Australian colleagues a new outlet to view ACER resources and latest releases. Finally, we offer some insight into the latest debate on national curriculum, and invite you to attend our national leadership conference in August. I hope you thoroughly enjoy this edition of EdLiveWire.

Everybody's Different
Overall
body dissatisfaction in young people has risen dramatically in the last
few decades, with a heightened prevalence of dieting, eating disorders,
obsessive exercise and steroid abuse.
Everybody’s Different by Jenny O'Dea details how to apply a proven self-esteem approach in schools, community settings and clinical situations to improve body image conceptions, prevent eating disorders and obesity, and foster health, nutrition and physical activity in young people. An ideal reference and resource book for anyone working with young people, in particular primary and secondary school teachers and university students. This book can also be applied in clinical and community settings.
Understanding the Millennial Adolescent

How can teachers understand, appreciate and connect with the young people they are educating? What do teachers need to know to develop the most relevant and empowering curriculum; to employ appropriate practices; and to utilise meaningful assessment for adolescents?
The Millennial Adolescent is an insightful new text from ACER Press that will help teachers working with adolescents – as well as those preparing to become teachers of adolescents – understand, appreciate and connect with them.
Western Australia welcomes ACER!
The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) officially opened its Perth office on 21st February, establishing a permanent presence in Western Australia for the first time.
