ACER has completed an Australian version of the JVIS reports with ANZSCO codes and local resource references.
The JVIS is regarded as an excellent tool and, with the recently amended, relevant Australian references, it will be an asset to any Career Counsellors Kit.

AACC08 National Career Conference, 26—28 March 2008, Hobart
Thank you to all who attended the Australian Association for Careers Counsellors Conference and took the time to visit Marian and myself at the ACER stand. Marian and I were pleased so many of you spent your breaks at our stand, discussing ACER's resources and catching up with Marian.
Many of you who visited our stand praised the speakers at the conference and were keen to view and purchase their materials that ACER publish or distribute. I have listed the speakers and their publications below that are available from ACER for your reference. I have also made mention of some of the hot items at the ACER stand during the AACC08 Conference.
Dr Janet Lenz, Program Director-Career Advising, Counselling, and Programming, Career Centre, Florida State University, USA presented a Keynote titled Translating theory to practice: A cognitive information processing (CIP) approach to career development and services and a workshop titled Effective career services for all clients: Practical tools and techniques for career practitioners.
Dr Lenz spoke about the
Career Thoughts Inventory (CTI) of which Dr Lenz is co-author along with
James P. Sampson, Gary W. Peterson.
The CTI is a 48-item self-administered and objectively scored assessment designed to improve the effectiveness of career counselling and guidance for adults, university students, and high school students.

Dr Mary McMahon, Lecturer, University of Queensland delivered a keynote and workshop titled Career counselling: Storying new identities; a research strand titled
Social justice and career development: Views of Australian Career Development Practitioners and a workshop with Professor Mark Watson titled Occupational Aspirations and gender stereotypes of Rural Xhosa-speaking South African Children.
Dr McMahon is co-author of My System of Career Influences (MSCI) and Career Development Programs.

International Masterclass for School Leaders
This Leadership Masterclass is for school leaders committed to leading the thinking in their school communities and classrooms. While there is no one right way to lead, there are common elements in the repertoires of the most effective leaders and these will be the focus of the Masterclass.
At the Masterclass, attendees will
reflect deeply on their current understanding and practice of leadership. Every skill, model and process that will be explored has been tested and refined by the presenters. Attendees will learn how to focus their leadership energies on areas of highest leverage.
