Executive, Management and Graduate (EMG)
Why use randomised testing?
The Executive, Management and Graduate (EMG) - Randomised Online Ability Tests allow organisations to conduct large scale sifting online, where the chosen tests can be sent to an individual’s email account. [private computer, internet café or workplace.]
Using cutting-edge technology for quality and security
One of the major pitfalls posed by administering traditional reasoning tests via the internet is the security of the tests and the likelihood of candidates being able to cheat in an insecure testing environment. But not with the EMG. The new Secure Test™ System, provides a range of different security methods and checks during the candidate assessment process. This substantially reduces the risk of cheating and provides peace of mind for the recruiting organisation.
How is the EMG administered?
Item bank testing technology means that each candidate will receive a unique test from a validated series of parallel item bank forms. Each person completes a different test but using test questions of equivalent difficulty. As a result, practice effects are all but eliminated, with the possibility of cheating significantly reduced. Furthermore, candidates are measured at 3 different levels of item difficulty to ensure that their results closely match the original ability results and also the pattern of results. By matching the results across the difficulty spectrum, the EMG solution ensures that the candidate has been given a fair opportunity to demonstrate and validate their performance and true potential.
How much?
Each EMG test can be purchased from ACER for as low as $12 each. Also, unlike other online test providers, ACER has no set-up fee or annual subscriptions to use the EMG, the same as any of our other online tests.

Purpose: To measure levels of abstract, numerical and verbal reasoning
Candidates: 18+ years of age
Administration: 20 minutes
Scoring: Online
Features:
- Randomised testing technology so that each candidate receives a unique test from a validated series of parallel item bank forms. This reduces the probability of cheating or familiarity with test items from repeated testing.
- Online test can be completed in an unsupervised environment. Screened candidates can then take a parallel test in a secure environment at a later stage to confirm their results.
- Several different report options, including grade levels, t-scores, percentiles and rank orders.
- Verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning sub-tests can be used individually or in combination.
The assessment measures the three key intellectual abilities needed in the workplace.
It consists of:
- Verbal Reasoning: ability to rapidly extract relevant information from written material and make objective judgments. Download an EMG Verbal Reasoning Sample Report
- Numerical Reasoning: ability to deal with numerical information in a variety of formats. Candidates are presented with a short scenario followed by four questions which get progressively more difficult. Download an EMG Numerical Reasoning Sample Report
