ACER helping to make better selection decisions in the Hospitality industry

![]()

ACER is currently working with representatives from the hospitality industry to develop guidelines and standards in the selection of staff for a range of positions. A central element of this nationwide study has been the use of ACER’s Work Personality Index (WPI) to help define, measure and benchmark key personality traits of effective hospitality staff and compare the results with future prospective candidates.
In view of the size and significance of the hospitality industry in Australia, this is major HR project that has been awarded to ACER. The Project Manager for this study is ACER Senior HR Consultant Gerard Ferrara.

The Executive, Management and Graduate (EMG) – Randomised Online Ability Tests
Online testing has grown at an exponential rate over the past few years in Australia as many organisations turn to online methods to attract talent. With receiving numerous job applications comes the challenge of having to sift accurately these applications to identify the best talent.
The EMG uses randomised testing technology whereby each candidate receives a unique test from a validated series of parallel item bank forms. This reduces the probability of cheating or familiarity with test items from repeated testing. The assessment measures Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning and Abstract Reasoning.
Find out more about how the EMG is administered, the costs and benefits as well as sample reports.
