International Benchmark Tests (IBT)
Benefits
School
The IBT school has the benefit of participating in an international test and receiving local, national and international benchmarks. Participating schools receive quality feedback on their students' performance. Schools are also able to use the reports to track a student's progress between years.
Teacher
The detailed group reports provide teachers with rich diagnostic information. Teachers are provided with a descriptor of each question, students' responses at the question level and the pattern of responses grouped by strand. The group reports are designed to highlight students' strengths and weaknesses. Teachers are able to look for trends in their students' responses and use this information to inform their teaching.
Students
IBT provides detailed feedback to students. The individual student report helps students to see their instrinsic abilities and potential for learning and to recognise their strengths and weaknesses in key concepts and skills. Students are able to benchmark their progress against other students in their school, nationally and internationally. If students sit IBT every year the use of standardised scores enables students to monitor their progress over time.
Parents
IBT helps parents monitor their child's performance and progress on a learning continuum through an independent and internationally adopted assessment tool. By monitoring their child's progress each year parents are able to ensure that any areas of concern are dealt with in a timely manner.
