ACER works in an increasingly international context. Support is provided to countries establishing national assessment programs through consultancy work and professional development programs. ACER also undertakes commissioned research and provides assessment services to a range of international clients.

ACER is engaged in significant collaborative work with Ministries of Education in overseas countries including India, Indonesia, Chile, Mexico, New Zealand, the USA and UAE. ACER is the principal partner in the consortium responsible for the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), is the International Study Centre responsible for the IEA International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS) and jointly conducts the IEA Teacher Education Development Study (TEDS) with Michigan State University.

To facilitate its international development work, ACER has established offices in Dubai and Delhi.
