Technical Leadership: Thinking and Planning Strategically

This project is in its second year of a three year contract with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. It delivers professional learning and mentoring to 75 aspiring leaders in Victorian government schools. 

Features:

  1. Research-based content aligned with the DEECD Leadership Framework and focused on strategic thinking and planning and change management.
  2. Problem-based learning strategies such as school-based projects that link theory and practice and support reflection work towards the resolution of school based problems
  3. Peer learning groups that enable collaboration, teamwork and mutual support
  4. Mentor support that provides direction, focus and support to implement school-based projects
  5. Intellectual engagement through examination and analysis of theory and research related to technical leadership

Activities:

  • pre-reading of the proscribed text Leading the Strategically Focused School (Brent Davies)
  • self-assessing current leadership practice
  • Actively participating in a three day conference and one day consolidation seminar
  • Contributing to the mentor and peer support group   
  • Completing  an individual school-based strategic planning project
  • Contribute to an online project bank  

Key Dates:

Three day conference: 7-9 May 2008
Consolidation Day: 10 October 2008
Submission of project: 31 October 2008
