Remote access to selected student resources

The Library allocates each ACER Institute student with a personal login to remotely access the full student complement of online Library resources. This remote access is provided via a service called Athens. The resources offered via the Athens login include databases for literature searching and accessing many complete online articles and books. Unit reading lists, with links to any available online readings, are also available via the login. Questions regarding this remote access service can be directed to the Library during business hours.

Note: The Athens login consists of a username (acersurnamefirstinitial - e.g. acersmithj) and a password originally allocated by the Library. To avoid potential problems, please use Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox as your browser when you login to Athens. Students unfamiliar with their password can enter their username (e.g. acersmithj) and their nominated student email address via the Forgot your password? link. A new password will then be emailed to the student's nominated email account.

Services

Request an article

Many articles in print in the Library, as well as some other documents, can be copied and sent to students on request. Students can request articles via this online request form which includes the required copyright declaration.

  • Submit a Copy Request

Articles will be sent via email whenever possible. However some copyright and licence restrictions may limit provision to a print copy. Print copies will be posted.

Borrow books

Books in the Cunningham Library collection are available to borrow for a period of two weeks. Students will receive, prior to the due date, an email reminder to either return books by the due date or renew the loans online. Loan items without a reservation will be renewed for a further two week period.

Request a book

Students can request that their loans be delivered via Express Post. The student enrolment fee covers the cost of delivery but the return cost will be at the expense of the student.

  • Submit a Book Request

Reserve a book

Reservations can be placed on books that are on loan. Books on loan will display a due date. The due date is found via the More info link in the Library catalogue record.
