The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) is one of the world's leading educational research centres, committed to creating and distributing research-based knowledge, products and services to improve learning across the lifespan.
ACER is an independent, not-for-profit organisation. We receive no direct financial support and generate our entire income through contracted research and development projects, and through products and services that we develop and distribute.
ACER has a long history and solid reputation as a provider of non-aligned, reliable support and expertise to education policy makers and professional practitioners. The organisation was established in 1930 and celebrated its 80th ‘birthday’ in April 2010.
ACER can provide spokespeople who are widely recognised as experts in their fields to provide commentary for journalists on a wide range of education topics.
Independence is one of ACER's key values and this is reflected in our relationship with the media. Advice and commentary provided is always informed through research – authoritative and nonaligned.
Generally it is our policy to provide media comment only on subjects where we have conducted research to ensure that the comment provided is evidence-based and well-informed.
To check if ACER has someone who can help you with a comment or background research for your story, please contact the Corporate Communications Manager, Dr Steve Holden, on 03 9277 5582 or communications@acer.edu.au
Please direct non-media enquiries to the ACER switchboard on 03 9277 5555 during business hours.
