It’s on for young and old at the 2007 CEET annual conference

The Annual Conference of the Monash University-ACER Centre for the Economics of Education and Training (CEET) will be held in Melbourne on Thursday 1 November, Ascot House, 50 Fenton St, Ascot Vale, Melbourne.

This year’s theme is It’s on for young and old: Education and training policies for young and older persons. The conference will consider education and training policies in the context of changes in the Australian population, workforce and economy.

The conference will be opened by Virginia Simmons, CEO Chisolm Institute followed by keynote presentations from Barry McGaw and Peter Dawkins.

Professor McGaw, Director, Melbourne Education Research Institute will address Australian education and training policies in an international context.

Professor Peter Dawkins, Secretary, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Victoria will speak on Human capital and early childhood development.
Other speakers and their topics include:
• Mark Cully, General Manager, NCVER, Bittersweet: Being young in an older persons’ world
• Chandra Shah and Gerald Burke, CEET: Future growth in the skilled workforce • John Ainley and Phil McKenzie, Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER): Schooling and youth participation in work and society

A symposium will also be conducted on the issues of education and training for older workers.

CEET is a joint venture of Monash University - Faculty of Education and Faculty of Business and Economics - and the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). The Centre undertakes research, training, consultancies and dissemination on the economics and finance of education and training.
