Committed to Excellence School Improvement Program

Committed to Excellence (C2E) is a program that supports school leaders in their review and development of school practices to improve teaching and learning based on the National School Improvement Tool.

At the heart of the program is an ongoing mentoring relationship between the school leadership and ACER. Schools joining the program are assigned a dedicated C2E Mentor who will work closely with the school leaders to provide objective feedback, advice and support throughout the program period.

What makes Committed to Excellence different?

C2E supports school leaders to focus strongly on those practices that research evidence shows are most directly related to school-wide improvements in teaching and learning. Committed to Excellence schools are schools in which quality teaching and learning are the pathways to student achievement.

"High-performing education systems understand the crucial role of school leadership in educational reform. Outstanding school leaders are capable of turning around underperforming schools and dramatically lifting student achievement levels. School leaders of this kind are passionate about their commitment to improving outcomes for students. They set high expectations for learning; provide clarity about what teachers should teach and students should learn; and work to build school-wide professional teams focused on studying and improving the quality of student learning throughout the school.

The Committed to Excellence program begins with what is known about highly effective school leadership – the kinds of leadership behaviours and practices that are correlated with improved teaching, learning and student performance. These behaviours and practices are described in the nine domains of the National School Improvement Tool. With its focus on improved teaching and leadership, the ultimate objective of the Committed to Excellence program is to make a difference for every learner."
