1 in 6 children are bullied every week in Australian schools. 190,000 (10%) are bullied every/most days. 57,000 (30%) of them will tell no-one. They will spend today afraid.
The internet plays a critical role in the lives of Australian youth. 90% of teens and young adults use the internet. Most have a mobile phone. In 2008 more than 1 in 5 teens report that they had been harassed or bullied online. This workshop will reveal what primary and secondary teachers and administrators need to know about Bullying and Cyber bullying.

What is effective discipline? Why do students misbehave? This workshop will engage participants in gaining a greater understanding of the reasons for common challenging behaviours. Participants in this workshop will learn a range of Preventative Strategies and Behaviour Interventions. This is an exceptional workshop for teachers who would like to take the control back and therefore improve the learning for all students.

Are you looking for strategies to address bullying and improve social skills in your school? Friendly Schools & Families is a research-based anti-bullying program developed by the internationally acclaimed Child Health Promotion Centre at Edith Cowan University. Come along to this free session to learn about what the research shows and first steps in implementing Friendly Schools & Families. The principles underpinning success of the program will be explained and participants will have an opportunity to become familiar with all the components – whole school handbooks, teaching and learning modules, parent booklet and CD-ROM.

Workshop Description
This hands-on workshop will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to introduce Friendly Schools & Families in your school. This research-based anti-bullying program was developed by the internationally acclaimed Child Health Promotion Centre at Edith Cowan University. Workshop content will include a brief overview of the program research background, followed by an opportunity to become familiar with all aspects of the Friendly Schools & Families framework. It is recommended that two members from the school community attend – parents welcome. At the end of this workshop you will be confident to begin implementation of this highly effective whole school approach to reducing bullying and improving social skills in your school.

Cancellations made up to seven seven days prior to the workshop will receive a full refund. Cancellations less than seven days prior to the workshop will be charged full workshop fees.
