DET WA has contracted the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) to collaborate with the West Australian Department of Education (DoE), Educational Measurement Branch, in undertaking the development of assessment tools to measure student performance in Western Australian Public Schools in the areas of:
• Science (Years 5, 7 and 9,) in 2010 and 2011; and
• Society and Environment (Years 5, 7 and 9) in 2010 and 2011.
The fundamental aim of the project is to develop instruments to assess the knowledge, skills and competencies described in the Curriculum Frameworks for Science and Society and Environment. These instruments will be designed to measure students’ progress in each of these learning areas, where progress is defined in terms of the continua of learning that are reflected in the Outcomes and Standards Frameworks (OSF) in the corresponding areas of study.
