Gambling and Young People

Description:

Research Australia has contracted ACER to conduct this national study which focuses on young people and their gambling within an Australian context. The project will research the extent and the patterns of gambling in young people, the context/nature/practices of where and why young people gamble, and the risk enhancers and risk inhibitors relevant to gambling for young people. The results of the project are intended to inform policy and practice related to effective harm reduction measures for young people.  ACER will be conducting surveys with samples of 10 to 18 year olds in secondary schools, while Wallis Consulting has been contracted to survey 15 to 24 year olds outside the secondary school system via computer assisted telephone interviews (CATI).  Follow-up focus groups will be also be conducted.
