The longitudinal data set for this project consists of nine linked assessments for literacy and numeracy. The assessment tasks have been equated vertically to develop a measurement scale for each of literacy and numeracy. These scales make it possible to measure change and to track students’ achievement progress over time. Student achievement data will be matched with student background data. Reviews of the literature on literacy and numeracy learning amongst Indigenous students are also being conducted. A final report, to be published as an ACER monograph, is planned for mid 2008. In addition, publications in other formats would be produced – for example brochures for teachers and parents, wikis. The project is managed by Dr Nola Purdie, with assistance from Ms Tracey Frigo and Dr Elizabeth Kleinhenz.
