This project was awarded under the competitive grants scheme for further analyses of LSAY data managed by NCVER on behalf of DEEWR. Using LSAY data it examined the outcomes in the later years of schooling for students who were classed as low-performers on the 2003 PISA benchmarks. The project investigated the factors that differentiated those students who went on to have successful outcomes (despite their earlier low achievement) from those who did not fare as well. As well as the report published by NCVER, papers related to this project were presented at the PISA Research Conference in Kiel, German, the Transitions in Youth Conference in Dijon, France, and as part of an international symposium at AARE in Canberra.
