The West Australian Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (WALNA) is a curriculum-based assessment that is criterion-referenced and tests students’ knowledge and skills in numeracy, reading, spelling and writing. The WALNA test is administered annually to students in years 3, 5 and 7.
ACER’s responsibilities included:
* Providing close and on-going consultation with Western Australian Monitoring Standards in Education personnel on all aspects of test development, including reliability and validity issues for reading, spelling and numeracy;
* item development for reading, spelling and numeracy; and
* liaising with the scanning contractor to ensure editorial quality of machine readable booklets.
