United Arab Emirates National Assessment of Student Achievement and Progress

Project Director: Professor Jim Tognolini

This is extension work attaching to the contract awarded in 2002. It aims to build upon the initial program in which ACER was contracted to assist the Centre for Educational Testing, Measurement and Evaluation (CETME) in the development of tests for the 2003 Year 5 cohort. The extension requires support for the 2004 program and in particular the development of the capacity of the centre in the preparation and implementation of future iterations of national cohort testing in the learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science and Arabic. The project is sponsored by the Ministry of Educations and Youth. Deliverables include the provision of workshops on test construction, assessment, psychometrics and the logistics of large scale testing programs, and the development of documentation to support future programs. The contract extends the initial implementation of the test to encompass Year 5 and Year 7 students in 2004, and looks to future liaison as the program extends to Years 3, 7 and 9 through to 2006.
