Ms Deirdre Jackson is the new Director, of the ACER Foundation. The purpose of the Foundation is to establish and manage a small number of projects to address the needs of disadvantaged – including Indigenous – children and youth. The distinguishing features of these projects are that they are initiated by ACER, usually in partnership with other organisations; and funded by philanthropic, corporate or government bodies, or by ACER itself.

In her new role Deirdre is developing project proposals around areas of urgent educational need in the community and promoting these project proposals to potential funding partners to address these needs.

Deirdre brings experience in structuring, managing and operating successfully within complex national and international partnership arrangements and at ACER she has been instrumental in the development of successful business partnerships in India, Malaysia, South Africa, the Philippines, the UK and Ireland.

In her previous role at ACER she was the Director of Assessment Services which she established. Prior to joining ACER she was at RMIT in both teaching and management roles.  She also has executive experience on national consortia and has had national and international project management experience. Deirdre is an experienced senior executive, consultant, writer, teacher and workplace assessor. She has special knowledge and experience in identifying needs and then initiating and developing programs to meet these needs including the development of a new national vocational qualification currently being undertaken by indigenous students in the Kimberley.
