Mr Maurice Walker is a Senior Research Fellow in the National and International Surveys research program at the Australian Council for Educational Research.

Since joining the company in 2002, he has mainly been involved in the design, implementation and analysis of the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). In particular he coordinated the development and implementation of contextual framework and international contextual questionnaires for PISA 2006.

Maurice has extensive experience in large scale educational survey work, including project management, sampling, field operations, quality monitoring, data management, analysis and reporting. In his previous position as Senior Research Analyst at New Zealand’s Ministry of Education he was National Project Manager for PISA 2003 and the National Research Coordinator for the IEA’s Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS).  He was a member of the first international Questionnaire Development Group for PIRLS, did substantial implementation and national analysis work for the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (1998), and participated on various national research and indicator strategy committees in New Zealand.
