About Nicole Wernert

Nicole Wernert (nee Fleming), BBSc La T, GradDipPsych, MAssess&Eval Melb, is a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian Council for Educational Research. She has over 15 years experience with large-scale education studies such as the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS); the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study; the National Assessment Program - Civics and Citizenship (NAP-CC) sample survey; and the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth (LSAY)/Youth in Transition (YIT). Other work has included the Disabilities Definitions Project; a discussion paper on open-book exams; and annotated bibliographies in the areas of Indigenous education and longitudinal surveys of youth. Her current role is project manager for the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2015.
Ms Wernert’s research interests include international comparative education; social and psychological contexts of schooling; positive psychology; and issues of validity in theory building.
