Nora Kovarcikova joined ACER in June 2008 as a Senior Research Fellow in the National and International Surveys Program at the Australian Council for Educational Research. Nora joined ACER from the position of a Research Fellow at the National Institute for Education in Bratislava, Slovakia within the Department of the International Measurements as well as a member of the Slovak National PISA Centre. Coordination and administration of PISA 2006 and PISA 2009 on a national level and also the other international surveys (TALIS 2008, ICCS 2009) formed part of her responsibilities within the National Co-ordination Centre from 2005-2008.
In years 2000-2005 Nora was working within the National Institute for Education as a head of the Media and Marketing Department and a coordinator of the school leaving examination reform with the British Council and the Open Society Foundation for implementing a standardized external part of the final examination at the end of the secondary education as a part of the Slovak national assessment.
From 1992-2000 Nora was working as a teacher of chemistry and English in the ‘Evangelical Lyceum’ – the secondary bilingual grammar school in Bratislava, Slovakia.
