Prof Steve Bristow represents the Australian Council for Educational Research in the UK as Education Consultant, Strategic Relationships. He joined ACER in June 2004. Prof Bristow taught in several higher education institutions before becoming Director of Academic Affairs and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glamorgan. From 1996-2002 he led Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology as Principal and Chief Executive. His company, Open Direction Ltd, undertook the Quinquennial Review of ACCAC (the Qualifications, Curriculum and Assessment Authority for Wales) for the National Assembly for Wales in 2003-04 and has completed evaluations for the Welsh Development Agency and the Rhondda Cynon Taf Children and Young People’s Partnership among others. He has published widely in the fields of public policy, education policy studies and corporate governance and has been extensively engaged in assessment and governance in schools, colleges and universities for some 25 years. He has worked extensively on policy development, legislation and evaluation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in the Republic of Kosovo since 2008 and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. He is currently ACER's Lead Investigator for the Welsh Government's review of Key Stages 2 and 3 teacher assessment in Wales and is supporting national key stage 2 test development work for the Standards and Testing Agency in England as ACER's UK Liaison.
