Dr Anna Filipi

Dr Anna Filipi is a Research Fellow and Project Director, ALC at the Australian Council for Educational Research.

She is responsible for the development and administration of tests in French, German, Indonesian, Italian and Japanese. Known as the Australian Language Certificates, these are tests in reading and listening offered to students in late primary to upper secondary levels with a participation rate of over 45,000 students across Australia and the South Pacific.

Her research interests and publications are in the area of First and Second language Acquisition, Conversation Analysis, Infant Bilingualism and Teacher Education. For her doctorate in linguistics, she investigated the development of conversation skills in young children. She is currently working on a research project that compares children's with adult's discourse skills in spatial language tasks.

Dr Filipi joined ACER in 2002 with extensive experience in teaching at secondary and tertiary levels and in the development and consultancy support of LOTE curriculum within the Victorian State Education system. She was State Chairperson and Chief Examiner for VCE Italian at the VCAA throughout the 1990s.
