Dr Nola Purdie

Principal Research Fellow

Dr Nola Purdie is a Principal Research Fellow at the Australian Council for Educational Research in the Learning Processes research program.

Her current and recent research focuses on learning and development across the lifespan. This includes research on the education of Indigenous students, Australian national identity, self-regulation of learning and behaviour, conceptions of learning, approaches to learning, interventions for children with ADHD, students with learning disabilities and learning difficulties, literacy development, learning and productive ageing, and outdoor challenge programs for personal and social development.

Her research in these areas has been published in numerous national and international journals and reports.

Previously, Nola was a Senior Lecturer (Research Methods, and Educational Psychology), and Director of the Centre for Cognitive Processes in Learning at Queensland University of Technology.

Prior to commencing a career in educational research, Nola worked in State, Catholic, and Independent schools in Western Australia in a variety of teaching and administrative capacities for over twenty years. This work included several years as a special education advisor in the Western Australian State Education Department.
