Mr Andrew Raivars

Mr Andrew Raivars is a Research Fellow in the Assessment and Reporting research program at the Australian Council for Educational Research.

Mr Raivars is currently Coordinator of Humanities Test Development for the Cooperative Scholarships Program (used by approximately 170 independent schools throughout Australia). His research interests include item analysis, construct validation, and the assessment of higher-order thinking by means of multiple-choice items.

He was appointed to ACER as a Test Developer in 1999 and has worked on tests in both the Humanities/Social Sciences and Mathematics/Science areas, such as the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admission Test (GAMSAT), the Victorian General Achievement Test (GAT), the Graduate Skills Assessment (GSA), the International Student Admission (ISA) Test and the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT).

Mr Raivars' background is in teaching and his experience extends from the upper-primary levels through to tutoring university students at Deakin Hall, Monash University. He has taught a wide range of subjects - English, English Literature, French, Latin and junior Maths.
