Dr Sheldon Rothman

Dr Sheldon Rothman is a Principal Research Fellow at the Australian Council for Educational Research in the Transitions and Post-School Education and Training research program.
Dr Rothman has been director of the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth (LSAY) project since July 2002.
Prior to joining ACER, he was responsible for data management and analysis in New South Wales, where he also worked with the Disadvantaged Schools Program, was Chief Statistician in the Department of Education, Training and Employment in South Australia, and was Chief Data Analyst for the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) in the USA.
Dr Rothman worked with state education agencies in a variety of roles and has produced public reports for state education departments, including a comprehensive analysis of student absence in South Australian schools and major analyses on gender and racial differences on the state tests in Massachusetts.
He previously taught English and Reading in secondary schools in New South Wales. Dr Rothman joined ACER in October 2001.
