Dr Rassoul Sadeghi

Dr Rassoul Sadeghi is a Research Fellow in the Systemwide Testing Program at the Australian Council for Educational Research. He is based in Sydney.
Dr Sadeghi joined ACER as a psychometrician on July 2006. This role has given him experience in data management with large volume of data (nationally and internationally) that are designed to monitor students’ learning over the time in subjects such as Literacy and Numeracy. He is responsible for psychometric services such as item analysis, Differential Item Functioning (DIF), scaling and equating, reliability and validity, and standard setting.
He has contributed to educational and psychological measurement in a range of capacities including academic research and lecturing. As a lecturer, he has taught courses in Educational Psychology, Theories of Intelligence, Statistics, Research Methodology, and Measurement. As a researcher, he has conducted various projects in the field of Educational and Psychological Measurement.
Dr Sadeghi's main research interest is Educational and Psychological Measurement with an emphasis on the application of the Rasch Measurement Model to monitor students’ growth along the developmental variables. His recent PhD research focused on the consequences for students of using different procedures to equate tests as fit to the Rasch model degenerates. In this work, Dr Sadeghi brought a strong technical understanding of the Rasch model and its applications to large-scale testing programs.
