Scoring the STAT

STAT scores are reported as a mark between 100 and 200. Candidates who achieve a perfect raw score have a STAT score of 200, whilst candidates who achieve a zero raw score have a STAT score of 100. Scores are not represented as a percentage as there is no pass or fail score on STAT. Reporting the score as a percentage might lead some individuals to assume that a percentage of 49% or less indicates a fail. Rather, the STAT score scale reflects the differing abilities of the candidates and the different degrees of difficulty of the test items.

STAT scores are intended to provide a relative estimate of a candidate's ability compared to other potential or past applicants. Although STAT scores are an objective measure of a candidate's academic capacity, other factors play a key role in the final determination of academic success. Such factors include the candidate's motivation, application, determination and perseverance.
