What is STAT?

STAT is used by many tertiary institutions in Australia as part of their admissions procedure for special categories of applicants to tertiary study. Institutions use candidates' STAT scores, together with other information available to them at the time of selection, to make decisions about offers of places in tertiary courses.

STAT is designed to assess a range of competencies considered important for success in tertiary study. The purpose of STAT is to assess your ability to understand and analyse material you will be given, and to think critically about issues. It is not a test of your knowledge of specific academic subjects. The Written English test assesses your ability to organise and express your thoughts in a logical and effective way.
