AEA is offered as an alternative entry pathway by Griffith University for students wishing to apply for a place in the School of Engineering.

What is the Aptitude for Engineering Assessment?

The AEA is a two and a half hour multiple choice test that assesses a candidate’s aptitude to think scientifically, solve quantitative problems, critically analyse information and display interpersonal understanding.

AEA has been developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) to assist universities to select students into courses offered by the faculties of Engineering.

Who should sit AEA?

AEA offers a pathway to an Engineering faculty for students who:

  • have not completed the pre-requisite courses necessary for admission to Engineering
  • wish to have information about their aptitude for Engineering considered alongside their state school certificate results (Higher School Certificate, Queensland Senior Certificate, The South Australian Certificate of Education, Victorian Certificate of Education, Western Australian Certificate of Education)
  • seek entry to an Engineering faculty as a mature age student
  • seek admission to an Engineering faculty as an international student and wish to have information about their aptitude for engineering considered alongside their documented results
  • seek admission to an Engineering faculty as an international student and have not studied subjects traditionally required for admission to Engineering courses

EACH OF THE UNIVERSITIES WILL PROCESS THE AEA RESULTS, AS A PATHWAY TO A BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING, IN A DIFFERENT WAY.  YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT THE UNIVERSITY THAT YOU WISH TO APPLY TO FOR DETAILS OF THE ADMISSION PROCEDURES TO THAT UNIVERSITY
