Urgent Updates!

Important information regarding 2010 Learner and Employer survey data - Please ensure that before entering any 2010 data into SMART, you have exported and saved all of your 2009 Employer and Learner Survey responses. Once you have completed the export, you need to purge all data from the SMART software before entering any 2010 survey responses. It is imperative that you complete this step, as SMART cannot store both 2009 and 2010 data. Failure to complete this will cause the data in SMART to conflict. Please refer to the SMART Guide for further instructions on importing, exporting and purging your data.    

Reporting for the 2009 calendar year - Reports for the Learner Engagement and Employer Satisfaction Quality Indictators were due to be submitted on June 30th, 2010. Please DO NOT submit these reports to ACER, as we do not require your data. Please email a copy of your Registering Body Report in PDF format to your state's Registering Body. See RTO Requirements for details of RTO reporting requirements and a full list of Registering Bodies within Australia.

Please note - The ACER Survey Processing Service cannot scan Learner and Employer Questionnaires that have been downloaded from the AQTF website or photocopied. To purchase scannable survey forms, please complete the Survey Order Form and email it to aqtf2007@acer.edu.au.

What is the Quality Indicators Resources Package?  

Under their Conditions of Registration, RTOs agree to provide their Registering Body with accurate and timely data relevant to measures of their performance.  

The AQTF 2007 Quality Indicators underpin an evidence-based and outcomes-focused approach to quality assurance in Australian vocational education and training.   

Collecting data from employers and learners helps RTOs to assess their performance against all of the AQTF 2007 Essential Standards for Registration and most of the underpinning Essential Elements.  In short, the data can help support continuous improvement processes to ensure that:     

  • the RTO provides quality training and assessment across all of its operations
  • the RTO adheres to principles of access and equity and maximises outcomes for its clients
  • management systems are responsive to the needs of clients, staff and stakeholders and the environment in which the RTO operates.

Data can also assist Registering Bodies assess risk associated with an RTO’s operations and hence the scope of audit.

Standard learner and employer survey instruments and methodologies are available for RTOs to provide summary reports to Registering Bodies related to the AQTF 2007 Learner Engagement and Employer Satisfaction Quality Indicators. The Competency Completion Online System is available for RTO’s to report their data on competency completion.

Survey scanning and processing

ACER also offers a fast, efficient and cost effective solution for Learner and Employer Questionnaire processing. Our Survey Processing Service provides RTO’s with scannable surveys that, when completed, are processed through high speed scanning software generating AQTF data files and SMART reports. Data files and reports are then emailed complete back to your RTO. For more information please refer to our Support materials and services page, and this information brochure. Please note, survey forms that have been downloaded from the AQTF website or photocopied cannot be processed by our survey scanners.
