The Survey Management, Analysis and Reporting Tool (SMART) has been developed to help Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) convert survey data into reports that they can use for quality management.

SMART is a stand-alone program that provides features for entering, importing, validating and analysing population and survey data; the automated production of data files and reports; and accessing survey resources and information.

SMART v2.4 will only operate on a computer running a 32-bit version of Windows XP, with full administrator access. SMART v2.4 is NOT compatible with a 64-bit version of Windows.

As an alternative to installing SMART yourself, you can utilise the AQTF Survey Processing Service. Our Survey Processing Service provides RTOs with scannable surveys that, when completed, are processed through high speed scanning software generating AQTF data files and SMART reports. Data files and reports are emailed complete back to you and original surveys are returned by courier. Further information regarding the scanning service can be found at http://www.acer.edu.au/tests/aqtf-2007/survey-processing-services.

SMART version 2.4 for Windows has now been released and all RTOs can install this version. To update to version 2.4 please follow the instructions below.

  • If you have existing data in SMART that you wish to keep, export and save both LQ and EQ data in .txt (tab delimited) format. Instructions on exporting data from SMART can be found on page 21 of the SMART Guide.
  • Uninstall SMART version 2.3. Once the program has been uninstalled, ensure that the SMART data file folder has also been deleted. This folder should be located at C:\Program Files\SMART\data. If it has not been deleted, please manually delete the folder and its contents.
  • Select the ‘Download SMART v2.4’ link and follow the prompts, ensuring that SMART is installed on the C: drive.
  • Once SMART version 2.4 has been installed, you can import existing LQ and EQ data. Instructions on importing data can be found on page 20 of the SMART Guide.
