What is ATNEST?

Australian Technology Network Engineering Selection Test (ATNEST) is a two and a half hour multiple-choice test that assesses a candidate’s aptitude to think scientifically, solve quantitative problems, critically analyse information and display interpersonal understanding.

ATNEST has been developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) in association with the Australian Technology Network group. It is designed to assist universities to select students into Engineering courses and is required by:

Who should sit ATNEST?

ATNEST offers a pathway to an Engineering faculty for students who:

  • have not completed the pre-requisite courses necessary for admission to Engineering at the ATN universities
  • wish to have information about their aptitude for Engineering considered alongside their state school certificate results (Higher School Certificate, Queensland Senior Certificate, The South Australian Certificate of Education, Victorian Certificate of Education, Western Australian Certificate Education)
  • seek entry to an Engineering faculty as a mature age student
  • seek admission to an Engineering faculty as an international student and wish to have information about their aptitude for engineering considered alongside their documented results
  • seek admission to an Engineering faculty as an international student and who has not studied subjects traditionally required for admission to Engineering courses
  • are members of an equity group identified by any of the ATN universities and wish to provide further information about their aptitude to study Engineering.

    THE UNIVERSITY WILL PROCESS THE ATNEST RESULTS AS A PATHWAY TO A BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING.  YOU SHOULD CONTACT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA FOR FURTHER DETAILS.
