Higher Ability Selection Test - Primary (HAST-P)

The Higher Ability Selection Test – Primary:

• Assesses higher order thinking skills rather than general ability
• Assesses students at levels above their chronological age
• Ranks students against their higher achieving/gifted peers within each cohort
• Discriminates more finely at the top end of performance than standard general population tests
• Can confirm teacher and parent observations of student abilities
• Gives students, teachers and parents formal, impartial evidence of student abilities
• Helps schools to determine which students should be included in differentiated curriculum or enhancement programs
• Gives schools a means to further investigate students who perform highly in general population tests
