The Higher Ability Selection Test is a secure testing program which ACER provides to schools as a pre-test and post-test service. Schools do not purchase the test materials.
Schools register to use the test program with ACER. The costs and registration forms are available online.
Candidate Information Bulletins are available online to print and distribute to candidates. This provides information about the test, sample items and test taking tips. There are additional Sample Questions available for purchase here.
Candidates register with the school not with ACER.
The school lets ACER know its final candidate numbers seven (7) working days before the test and sufficient test papers and detailed instructions for supervisors are sent out.
The school then administers the test with the step-by-step read aloud instructions provided.
Once the testing has taken place the school returns the test papers to ACER, along with a list of all the registered candidates who sat the examination.
There is a ten working day turn around between the receipt of the completed tests and the provision of results. Schools are invoiced after results are sent.
