PATMaths Plus is an online extension of the paper-based PATMaths 3rd edition tests.

The questions in online PATMaths Plus are different to those in PATMaths 3rd edition paper tests but because results for both testing programs are reported on the one scale, comparisons of results can be made to measure progress.

Questions are classified into five strands: Number; Space; Measurement; Chance & Data; and Algebra.

Key Features of PATMaths Plus

  • Provides a multifaceted estimate of students’ level of achievement in mathematics;
  • Is administered online either individually or to a large group;
  • Reports link each item to the relevant Australian Curriculum strand;
  • A common achievement scale for PATMaths Plus and PATMaths Third Edition tests gives teachers the opportunity to select the most appropriate tests, to make a range of valid and helpful comparisons and to measure growth over time;
  • Includes percentiles and stanines that allow for comparison with a national norm group at different year levels;
  • Provides scores for different strands and specific item descriptors to help identify specific strengths and development needs.

Benefits of PATMaths Plus

Teachers may use PATMaths Plus results in a number of ways, including to:

  • Identify students who could be selected for extension programs;
  • Identify students who may need special diagnostic and remedial attention;
  • Compare results on PATMaths Plus with curriculum-based assessment;
  • Provide information that may be used in setting realistic goals and planning effective programs of work;
  • Locate areas of weakness and strength for individuals or within a class.
