Schools Data Service

The SDS offers two distinct services and schools can choose either or both.

Measuring Data over Time

This service draws on data collected from National and/or ACER tests and provides a longitudinal perspective on that data.

Schools can monitor the progress of students across year levels and evaluate differences in group performances at a given year level over time.

This facilitates decisions on appropriate interventions and reflects the value of particular programs. One key element in this service is that the school based grouped data can be measured against national norms.

Analysis of Achievement v Ability

This service allows schools to compare expected outcomes, based on an ACER general ability test, with actual performance as measured by National, ACER or school based performance tests.

The data is presented at a year, faculty, class or individual student level. In the case of the latter, distinctions can be made on a gender basis.

The service assists schools to decide upon appropriate interventions on either a group or an individual student basis. It provides a comprehensive way of evaluating particular programs and their outcomes.

In the case of the ACER general ability test, schools can choose either:
Measures of Student Development (MSD)
or
Middle Years Ability Test (MYAT)
