What does the VI assess?
The VI is a 60 minute online assessment offered in a modular format. There are four test components and institutions are able to select three components to tailor the test to their specific needs:
Abstract reasoning: measures candidate's ability to identify and complete sequences and patterns presented as diagrams. This module indicates non-verbal reasoning and problem solving skills. 20 minutes
Basic Literacy: identifies the ability of candidates to accurately extract familiar information from text and graphics. 20 minutes
Mechanical reasoning: measures the candidate's ability to comprehend the functioning of mechanical devices and apply such understanding to select devices, predict effects of changes and solve problems. Mechanical knowledge is not assessed. 20 minutes
Numeracy: assesses basic, numerical aspects of mathematical ability in three different strands (number, measurement and space). 20 minutes
NOTE: Before seeing the demo please make sure screen display resolution is at a minimum of 1024 X 768. Go to control panel/display/settings/set resolution to 1024 X 768
