What kind of reporting system is provided with the VI?
In order to guarantee secure, meaningful and reliable results, the VI reporting function:
- The descriptors and graphs used to report on candidate results are easy to understand and measure levels of performance in numeracy, literacy and generic reasoning skills.
- Reporting can be tailored to reflect the information and data most pertinent to particular cohorts of students.
- All marking is automated.
- Provides a secure report that can be viewed online.
- This robust assessment system compares each student’s score with the rest of the group.
- Provides a full and immediate report of the candidate’s results.See sample screen below.
Alignment of the Vocational Indicator Tool with the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)
The Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) provides:
- A consistent national approach to the identification of the core skills (i.e. learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy) requirements in diverse personal, community, work and training contexts.
- A common reference point for describing and discussing performance in the five core skill areas.
- The Vocational Indicator tool and the ACSF have a role in describing levels of performance in Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN), and predicting a learner’s likely capacity to cope with training.
- A detailed alignment to indicator level has been done for the VI tool to the following ACSF core skills: Literacy (reading) and Numeracy. See report. A less detailed mapping has also been done for the abstract and mechanical reasoning components.
- The alignment was undertaken by Philippa McLean and Dave Tout (members of the team who developed the ACSF), in collaboration with Chris Anderson, numeracy expert.
