Vocational tests and surveys

ACER provides Assessment Services to TAFE institutions, RTOs, training bodies, employers and governments, including the design, development and implementation of testing programs and the provision of external quality monitoring and benchmarking services. This includes:

  • Assessing skills in language, literacy and numeracy (LLN)

ACER has specialised test development teams in a range of discipline areas to deliver targeted assessment solutions to meet client needs and extensive project management capacity to deliver programs across Australia and internationally.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment

ACER supports TAFE institutes, RTOs and industry to measure and monitor the LLN skills of students and employees and implement evidence-based responses. ACER LLN assessment instruments are high quality, research-based tools aligned to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) and designed to provide both individual-level diagnostic and descriptive data and higher-level analysis and reporting data. ACER provides both standard and customised tools for assessing LLN skills in a range of contexts including monitoring student skills, provision of learning support, assessing learningoutcomes and selection and admissions programs.

Quality and Benchmarking Services

ACER supports organisations in collecting, analysing and reporting on key indicators of performance, including student learning outcomes and AQTF Quality Indicators.

The AQTF Quality Indicator Service (AQIS) offers services to support compulsory and value-added reporting against the Learner Engagement and Employer Satisfaction surveys.

AQIS offers flexible survey options along with basic and customisable benchmark reports to assist RTOs in meeting their compliance requirements and addressing ongoing quality assurance and continuous improvement strategies.

Recruitment and Selection Testing

ACER provides recruitment, selection and organisational development tools and services to clients in the government and private sectors to aid in employment decision making.

These include instruments to measure basic skills, aptitudes and psychological traits relevant to workforce participation in a wide range of employment contexts. ACER has extensive experience in the development and delivery of high stakes, secure selection testing programs, including secure test development, candidate registration and liaison, test centre management, test supervision and secure scoring, data analysis and reporting. ACER provides secure testing programs for clients in industries including police and ACER provides assessment services for TAFE institutes, emergency services, security, armed services, banking, and mining and construction.

Test scoring, analysis and reporting

ACER has a dedicated data processing facility and a team of data processing professionals who work alongside ACER psychometricians to provide high quality scoring, analysis and reporting services.

ACER organises regular forums for VET professionals, industry representatives and business clients including:

  • Conferences and seminars focusing on the most up-to-date themes, research developments and new trends in adult learning
  • Special interest group roundtables
  • Customised professional development programs on the teaching and learning of LLN in vocational, adult and workplace education contexts
