International Benchmark Testing (IBT)

The first round of IBT (then known as globalAchieve) were administered to a set of schools in India in April 2004. Participating schools received feedback about student performance against international norms, as developed in Australia. These tests also gave Year 6 Mathematics students the opportunity to be tested on a set of items from the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) conducted by the International Study Centre, Boston.

Being launched for the first time in the Middle East and in a select set of countries across the world, the IBT system is an end-to-end approach to student assessment. The system has been developed using detailed research by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). At the core of the system is a series of tests in Mathematics (classes 3 to 10), English (classes 3 to 10) and Science (classes 3 to 8).

This concept is intended to give participating students, schools, teachers and parents access to a range of unique benefits that provide a complete and comprehensive learning support package.

The system comprises four key members:

  • The IBT School
  • The IBT Teacher
  • The IBT Student
  • The IBT Parent
