Gateway to Australian Educational Research
The Australian Education Index provides a complex and sophisticated subscription database consisting of more than 200 000 entries relating to educational research, policy and practice. Relevant to a wide range of people interested in education from schools and universities as well as the researcher. It covers the period 1979 to the present.
AEI is produced by Cunningham Library at the Australian Council for Educational Research as one of its specialist databases. AEI is available online through subscriptions with Informit, Proquest, Transmission Books and Microinfo Co (Taiwan). For subscription information via Informit see the website. Members of Cunningham Library have access to the latest four years direct from the ACER Library web site – see library members page for details. The database is updated monthly to ensure that members are informed promptly of recent research and trends in teaching and training.
Articles from leading Australian journals indexed in AEI are available through EdResearch Online (ACER Library web site) and the text of the complete article can be downloaded through the Complete Article Service for a fee covering copyright and handling costs.
Over 200 Australian journals comprehensively indexed and more than 500 Australian and international journals are scanned for relevant articles. View the list of core journals indexed. All entries are assigned subject headings from the Australian Thesaurus of Education Descriptors. The fourth edition (2013) in print is now available from ACER Press. A search version is now available from ACER Library web site.
Items for indexing can be submitted to Cunningham Library, ACER at any time. The index aims to include all information published about Australian education. Submit a Document.
Most items indexed (except for theses) for the AEI are held by Cunningham Library and are available for loan or photocopy through your library's interlibrary loans/document delivery service. Photocopies of articles can be obtained through Cunningham Library's Document Supply service.
The Australian Education Index and also A+ Education are available on the web via Informit Online. The databases are updated monthly. A+ Education is based on ACER's Australian Education Index (AEI). There are over 245 comprehensively or selectively indexed journals for which the full text articles are available.
